Outreach Church Youth Ministry Core Values
• Fun and Friendship: We are committed to growing in deep friendship with God while pursuing friendship with each other and having fun doing it!
• Character and Giftings: We focus on the development of both Godly character and supernatural giftings so that students build a well rounded foundation that develops the heart of Jesus and the works of Jesus together in their lives.
• Safety and Challenge: We foster a safe environment where students are welcomed and loved wherever they are in life. While loving them where they are, we bring high-challenge to press into growth in godliness, allowing God to shape them into all He has created them to be.

Volunteer Requirements & Expectations
We see the opportunity to serve and invest in students as an absolute honor. It is a privilege to be a part of someone’s growth and journey with Jesus. Each Youth volunteer must be a born-again Christ follower. They must also be committed to Outreach church as their church home and attend regularly. They will be asked to join Planning Center and submit a background check through Checkr before working with students. Volunteer forms and background checks are kept confidential.
New Youth volunteers will serve with other experienced leaders before teaching or leading small groups on their own. Volunteers agree to read and abide by the safety policies in place for the protection of the students, themselves, and the church.

Beliefs & Lifestyle
Because our volunteers represent Outreach Church, and more so - Jesus Christ, their personal beliefs & lifestyle must line up with biblical truths and beliefs. To review the Outreach Church beliefs, please visit the website at https://www.outreachchurch.net/beliefs
We ask that Youth Ministry volunteers seek to be an example of living like Jesus as best they can through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, not only because they are leaders, but because we live in-love with Jesus seeking to know Him more and become more like Him. We especially ask that all volunteers be committed to sexual purity, whether single or married. This includes abstaining from pre marital sex, pornography, and filtering with the Holy Spirit what is watched as entertainment.

Attendance
Youth Meetings are every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30pm (except the first Wednesday of each month when we have our church wide worship night). Volunteers are expected to attend each week and arrive on time to connect with students and lead their small groups. We also have bi-monthly leadership meetings held with leadership after one of the Wednesday night meetings.
Volunteers confirm their availability through evites from Planning Center. You will receive email requests which you are required to respond to promptly to confirm your schedule. If you are sick or have a last-minute emergency, please contact your leader as soon as soon as possible. They will need time to find a replacement or merge small groups.

Leaving the Ministry
Due to the rhythm of the school year, we ask that volunteers serve from August to the following June. Volunteers are responsible for giving notice when they wish to resign from the ministry. If un unexpected need to resign arises, please give a month’s notice at minimum.

Wednesday Night Meetings
Wednesday night services are for any students in 6th – 12th grade. Each leader will be assigned a small group to lead with a partner at the start of their commitment. Wednesdays are a great time to get to know your students, connect with them, have fun with them, and speak the Fathers heart over them! They are amazing.

Leader Arrival
Volunteers are expected to arrive at church at 6:15 to help with set up & prayer before service (unless work prohibits this arrival time). Please make timeliness a priority. We value excellence and excellence only happens with intentionality.

Student Arrival
Help us ensure every student feels welcomed immediately. A person forms their first impression of a person or event with in the first 30 seconds. We prioritize connecting with every student as soon as they arrive to make them feel seen and welcome! Be on special look out for first time visitors. Introduce yourself and connect them with other students their age. Ensure everyone makes a name tag and picks up their journals before the meeting starts.

First Aid
If a student receives a small injury, not requiring medical attention, there is a First-Aid kit located in each classroom and in the upper kitchen cabinets to the right of the sink. Volunteers may administer band-aids for minor scrapes and cuts, or an ice pack for busted lips or bumps. Medications, including pain relievers are never to be administered by volunteers. Lay hands on them and declare healing in Jesus’ name. Our goal is to see the kingdom of Heaven come on earth. If the injury is serious, immediately call 911, notify the leader, and the parents using the Youth Emergency Contact Notebook located in Roy’s Office.

Volunteer to Student Ratio
Each room with students in it must have 2 adult volunteers present at all times. An adult leader is never permitted to be alone with a student in an isolated area for any reason. If a student wants to talk privately, please talk with them in an area where another leader is with in view.

Discipline
If a student is disruptive, we operate under the “Call Out & Call Up” rule. We don’t tolerate disruptive or disrespectful behavior because we believe that’s not who the students are created to be. We call OUT the disruptive or disrespectful behavior, privately if possible, and then call them UP to who they are called to be in Jesus.
• IE: A student is repeatedly talking to other students or on their phone during worship. We tell them “hey I know sometimes its hard to focus but lets put your phone down and not interrupt the people around you. We don’t want to create a distraction for anyone who wants to worship. If you tune in, I believe you’ll hear that God has something He wants to share with you in worship.”
If a student is disruptive week after week, the parent should be made aware of the situation and if necessary, the student may be asked to take a break and return when they can be respectful.

Additional Precautions
• Keep all snacks in the kitchen. No food is allowed in the sanctuary.
• Lock front doors once the game starts. (You can still exit from the inside). Side doors by the kitchen will remain unlocked.
• All students should stay inside the sanctuary during worship, teaching, and small group time. Please help keep an eye on doors to ensure no students leave unannounced.
• Students should not eat food stored in the kitchen outside of what is allocated for Youth Meetings (no digging into the fridge & cabinets!)
• Encourage students to stay off cell phones

Emergency Evacuation
Always stay calm. Stop activity and tell your small group students to calmly move as a group to the back gated park or front lawn. One leader should lead the group to the designated meeting area and one leader should check restrooms, behind doors and in adjoining rooms to make sure no students are left behind. Once all students are evacuated all leaders should join at the designated meeting area.
